Who Am I

Hi, I’m Natasha, the face behind Natasha Maria Art. I am based north of Brisbane, in the beautiful bushland suburb of Cashmere in Queensland, Australia.

Art has always been a part of my life. From a very young age I attended private art lessons for many years. After high school I studied to become a primary school teacher and I taught for many more years in both state and private schools. During this time I always greatly enjoyed art lesson time with my students, and all kinds of arts and crafts were a big part of my creative downtime away from work.

Now, life sees me once again picking back up my paint brushes and creating my own paintings to enjoy and share with others, while also utilising my teaching skills to teach art. From the very young through to the elderly, I have the wonderful privilege of helping others to find their inner artist. It’s an amazing feeling to see the joy on people’s faces when they see what they have been able to create themselves, and to know that I have helped them to achieve that.

As for my own art practice, I work predominantly in both acrylic and oil paints. I love to paint nature - especially up-close florals and landscape scenes. The breath-taking beauty of our world provides so much inspiration. I enjoy getting lost in the details, while trying to capture the colours and shapes of my reference subjects whether it’s on a small canvas or a large oversized one. Creating art is a relaxing and wonderful activity with so many health benefits for us all. I love that I can share my paintings with others and share some of the incredible beauty that is all around us.
